Quick Tip: Tame the Delete Button on Your Mac [Keyboard Shortcut]

Posted by on Aug 24, 2011 in Mac | One Comment

Although we all want to type without error, it’s quite impossible. That’s why every typist will eventually need to reach for the delete (or backspace in Windows) button. Pressing it once will delete one character to the left of the blinking vertical bar. Do you know you can delete more? Try using some of the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • option + delete will delete one word to the left
  • command + delete will delete the whole line before the blinking vertical bar

If you are using a Apple laptop, you have two more delete-related keyboard shortcuts at your disposal:

  • fn + delete will delete one character to the right
  • fn + option + delete will delete one word to the right
